California State University – Long Beach, founded in 1949, is a major, large public research university located in Long Beach, California. The university is one of the largest in the state of California and currently enrolls over 38,000 students. The campus is spacious with over 320 acres and is just 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean providing many options for students.

For academics, Cal-State offers over 150 degree programs at the Graduate and undergraduate level. The major academic areas of the university include the following colleges. Arts, Liberal Arts, Natural Sciences & Mathematics, Business, Education, Engineering, Health & Human Services, Continuing & Professional Education. There are 67 Graduate degree programs and 81 bachelor degree programs available to entering students.

As one of the most popular universities in the state of California the university receives over 100,000 applications each year from students from many foreign countries and all of the 50 states in the US. All students are advised to apply many months prior to the start of classes each Fall and Spring semester.

MS Computer Science is not accepting a Spring 24 intake. Undergraduate major should be in a field closely related to Computer Science. Recommended minimum GPA (last 60 units attempted) is greater than 3.5. Fall 2024 application window: October 1 - January 15, 2024.

  • Minimum GPA - 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), STEM programs require a 3.0
  • - 3 Year Degrees from India are accepted with a NAAC grade "A" or better and if student graduates in Division I
  • - TOEFL (80), IELTS (6.0 Overall, no sub-score below 6.0), PTE (58), or Duolingo (115)  - Official Scores Only
  • - Duolingo is accepted but the score cannot be entered on the official Cal State application. Please submit the application and then release an official score to CSULB
